Happy First Day of Spring

We celebrated the first day of spring yesterday by dying spring eggs. We have been doing it on the first day of spring for several years now. It is something fun to look forward to and a neat way to mark the changing of the seasons. Our friend, Isabella, joined us for the tradition.

Later that night we were invited to my mom's house to celebrate the Iranian New Year with her family. Her mother-in-law, Ferry, is from Iran where they celebrate the first day of spring as the first day of the new year. She made a wonderful Persian feast for us all to enjoy.

Beautiful spring eggs, kids! What vibrant colors you used ... I wonder what the hens would think if they found those in their nests!
