Grammy & Papa's House for Halloween

We went to Grammy and Papa's tonight and met up with cousins Willem and Junie. After dinner Grammy set up a fishing game for the kiddos. They hung the buckets over the water (Red Sea?) and Grammy filled them with goodies.
We walked the children to the neighbors' houses where they shared their costumes and got some treats.

And we returned to home-made donuts that Papa made while we were away. They were scrumptious!

Trick-Or-Treating The Waterfront '08

Last weekend we continued a family tradition. Trick-or-Treating the Waterfront. I love it because it is during the daylight hours on the beautiful Seattle pier. Children have a chance to show off their costumes in safety as they trick-or-teat the retail shops. Mikey was with other family members so he did not join us, but Cousin Karsten was with us and ready to go.

Dalmatian (often confused for a sheep), Mr. Incredible, kitty cat, and Iron Man blazed a trail along the water front.

We met up with some friends and though it wasn't planned, we ended up with two dalmatians, three super heroes and three cats.

We returned home to see that Mikey had a great time at the pumpkin patch and even got his face painted with the itsy-bitsy-spider.

A tummy full of candy and feet ready for a rest, Harrison took a break after a fun afternoon at the pier.

Pumpkin Patch Take I & II

Pumpkin Patch Take I

We visited the pumpkin patch twice this year. I don't know what I was thinking the first time, when I took the four kiddos and puppy by myself. It was like trying to heard cats

Last year I didn't bring cash to the pumpkin patch so we missed out on the delicious smelling kettle corn. This year we bought two bags to make up for it.

Pumpkin Patch Take II ...much better with Dad

Above is this year's photo. Below is last year's.
Pumpkins and children grow so fast. Enjoy them while you have 'em.

Baby, Tomatoes and Puppy

My friend, Kelly, visited today with her sweet little Mabel Pamella. It so so fun to see Kelly as a mom. She is doing beautifully and clearly loving it.

Bucket O' Baby

We picked the last of the tomatoes off the vines today and had fun nailing the trees with them.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We finally have a name for our puppy. Hazel; Hazy for short.

We have had her just over a week now and our lives are dizzy with puppy training. Any helpful hints from those of you with experience?

Job Carr's Cabin

Our home school co-op visited the Job Carr Log Cabin Museum today as we wrapped up our history unit on 1800-1899. Job Carr was a pioneer in Tacoma who had fought in the Civil War. By 1869, his cabin became the first Post Office and Job Carr was named the first Postmaster. The first election was held at the cabin, and Job was elected to the first city council, becoming the first mayor of the new city.

The car's leaving Carr's cabin...

Happy Birthday Aunt Heidi

My dear sister-in-law who is responsible for giving us our new puppy, came over today to offer her assistance to us as we try to learn about our new dog and how to care for her. She failed to mention that it was her birthday. I failed to mention that I knew it.
So after a few hours of Puppy 101 class and playing with the cousins, the other guests arrived. It was such a relief and joy to wish Heidi a happy birthday after pretending all day that we forgot! We love you, Aunt Heidi. You are so kind and precious. Thanks for spending your birthday with us!
The little guys had fun playing in the puppy kennel.
