Job Carr's Cabin

Our home school co-op visited the Job Carr Log Cabin Museum today as we wrapped up our history unit on 1800-1899. Job Carr was a pioneer in Tacoma who had fought in the Civil War. By 1869, his cabin became the first Post Office and Job Carr was named the first Postmaster. The first election was held at the cabin, and Job was elected to the first city council, becoming the first mayor of the new city.

You need to visit DC...the ultimate homeschool field trip. Maybe work it into next year's budget and then write it off!!!! Accomidations provided!
