Each child takes pride in hanging their own decorations on the branches. This year we tried to keep them up higher to avoid any ornamental mishaps that might occur if Mikey should come in contact with them. We tried decorating with Mikey, but after he broke two ornaments and was super crabby, we realized that it was more important to observe his bedtime than to make sure he took part in this fun holiday tradition.

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, How Lovely are Your Branches
This is how it happens every year. We get our tree. It sits out on the front or back porch for a few days. Then we bring it in the house. There it sits for a couple days until the lights finally go on. And all that time the children are dancing around with great anticipation as they wait to get the Christmas decorations up.
